Resolute Support (Afghanistan)

Resolute Support Mission (RSM) is a NATO-led, non-combat mission to train, advise and assist the Afghan security forces and institutions. The mission was launched on 1 January 2015, immediately following the stand-down of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). The Resolute Support Mission carries out training, advice and assistance activities to increase the effectiveness and accountability of the Afghan national security forces and institutions.

Estonian contribution

  • EOD team
  • infantry platoon and NSE
  • military police
  • Role 2 basic (R2B) medics
  • staff officer

Taking part of the mission enhances partnership with allies and helps to stabilise the situation in the area where Estonian detachment has long been operating. During 2003-2014 Estonian Defence Forces participated in the ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) and as of 2015 contribute to the Resolute Support mission.
