Spring Storm 2026

Exercise Spring Storm 2026 (Kevadtorm 2026) will be conducted from May 4 to June 1, 2026. At its peak, more than 12,000 conscripts, reservists, active duty members, members of Estonian Defence League and allies are planned to take part of the exercise.

Exercise Spring Storm is the largest annual exercise of the Estonian Defence Forces, that has grown from the final exam of conscripts to a large-scale international exercise. During exercise Spring Storm, different level command and control capabilities, units’ combat readiness and interoperability are being trained and evaluated.

The Spring Storm is planned and led by the Estonian Division Headquarters. The officer organizing the exercise is the division commander, Major General Indrek Sirel. The main units being trained in the exercise are the division’s 2nd Infantry Brigade and the Southern Land Defense District of the Estonian Defence League.

Exercise is conducted over the whole Estonia, yet main activities will be carried out in the South-Eastern part of Estonia. Part of the EX is also to be carried out in North-Eastern Latvia.


Exercise Spring Storm 2026 is the 20th exercise Spring Storm. First Spring Sormt was conducted in 2003. Additionally, exercise Hedgehog (Siil) has been conducted instead of Spring Storm (2015, 2018, 2022, 2025).
