The Military Intelligence Center of Estonian Defence Forces has set up a hotline on its website to expand the possibilities of collecting information for the purpose of ensuring national security.
As per the assessment of the Military Intelligence Center (MIC), due to the aggressive and expansionist actions of the Eastern neighbour of the county, the need for increased intelligence collection is significant. Each person that possesses information about the persons, actions or other relevant matters posing a threat to Estonian state can submit their hints, and contribute to intelligence collection. Every hint matters and poses a value that the analysts of the MIC appreciate and can utilize in their operations.
Information relevant for armed defence of Estonia, preventive warnings, and hints regarding threats to a service member, unit or facilities in and outside Estonia are anticipated.
The hint can be submitted to an e-mail address [email protected] or by regular mail. The option of delivering the information to the MIC in person also remains. For submitting information abroad there is the possibility of visiting the Estonian Embassy or Consulate and passing information though them.
Passing on information can pose a risk to the informant, therefore precaution measures need to be taken is use. It is recommended to avoid using an e-mail address and communication assets that can be associated to the person passing the information (e.g. personal e-mail, cell phone or computer).
Anonymized digital environments (e.g. public WiFi, anonymous SIM-card) should be preferred to increase security. The Estonian Military Intelligence Center protects both the source and the received information. More detailed information has been published on the hint line webpage in Estonian, English and Russian language HERE
