Six US fighter jets arrived in Estonia for training
Today, six F-15E Strike Eagle fighters from the United States Air Force arrived at Ämari Air Base as part of the Astute Protector exercise. The main goal of the fighters in Estonia is to support the Baltic Air Policing Mission with the F-16 fighter jets of the Belgian Air Force, whose rotation began in December last year.

The Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Timo Kivinen, visited Estonia on 18 January 2022. The visit was be hosted by Estonia's Chief of Defence, Lieutenant General Martin Herem.

Estonian Navy Officer took command of Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group One
Today at the ceremony held in Tallinn, Estonian Navy Officer Commander Ott Laanemets was assigned as the new commander of the NATO Mine Countermeasures Group One and took over the responsibilities from Polish Navy Officer Commander Michal Dziugan.

Estonian troops participating Operation Barkhane received French deployment medals
Members of Estonian contingent BKN-10 that has served in Mali for the past four months were awarded French deployment medals at a ceremony held in Gao, Mali yesterday. Additionally the outgoing Senior National Representative (SNR) Major Rauno Viitmann handed over responsibility to incoming SNR Major Rauno Vahimets.

Two Estonian Air Force planes accidentally violated Finnish airspace
Due to human error, two Estonian Air Force jet trainers L-39 turned to Finnish airspace south of Utö Island yesterday at 14.02 local time. Incident occurred over international waters, when planes took part in a training exercise with allied warship. The violation of the airspace lasted for less than a minute.

Next infantry group to rotate in Mali is ready for a foreign operation

NATO Battlegroup in Tapa completes integration into Estonian 1st Brigade
Nearly 2000 UK, French and Estonian soldiers were conducting field training exercise Bold Panzer on the Central Training Area near Tapa this week. The purpose of the exercise was to complete the process of integrating the new UK-led NATO battlegroup into the 1st Estonian Brigade, thereby creating a cohesive battleforce.
