UK’s Royal Tank Regiment takes over lead role of NATO battlegroup Estonia
During a formal Transfer of Authority parade in Tapa Camp yesterday (Thu, 16 September 2021), the British Army´s Royal Tank Regiment Battlegroup took over the lead role for the NATO enhanced Forward Presence in Estonia, ensuring a smooth transition from the outgoing 1 Mercian Battlegroup. It like its predecessor comes under the command of the 1st Estonian Brigade.

The US unmanned aerial vehicle MQ-9 will start operating in Estonia for the first time
In cooperation with the Estonian Defence Forces and in support of Baltic region allies and partner nations, U.S. Air Forces in Europe has temporarily relocated MQ-9 Reaper remotely piloted aircraft, personnel and support equipment assigned to the 52nd Expeditionary Operations Group Detachment 2 to Ämari Air Base, Estonia until the end of July.

Chief of Defence presented Latvian Joint Staff senior officer with Estonian Defence Distinguished Service Medal
Chief of Defence major general Martin Herem commemorated lieutenant colonel Māris Tūtins in Estonian Defence Forces headquarters for vital role and effort put into strategic communication field in Baltic Defence College courses and for cooperation with Estonian Defence Forces.
LtCol Tūtins was an important partner to Estonian strategic communication field for years, contributing to joint excercises and leading different projects of NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence. He developed the strategic communication modules of Baltic Defence College courses and has continued his support to the college afterwards. Since December 2019 LtCol Tūtins has been assigned to Latvian Joint Staff, where he is the main partner for Estonian Defence Forces headquarters in wartime operational planning.
Estonian Defence Distinguished Service Medal is the highest Defence Forces award. The award has two classes – type of merit for defence, given for services contributing to strengthening national defence and type of battle merit, for actions in battle.
